What is a UGV?
An Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) is a vehicle that operates while in contact with the ground and without an onboard human presence. They can be remotely operated, semi-autonomous, or fully autonomous.
- Chassis & Mobility System: Wheels, tracks, suspension depending on terrain
- Power System: Battery-powered (Li-ion, LFP), sometimes hybrid
- Navigation & Control: GPS / IMU SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) Lidar / Camera / Radar for perception
- Communication: RF, Wi-Fi, 4G/5G, LoRa for remote control or telemetry
- Computing: Onboard microcontroller or SBC (e.g., Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano/Xavier)
- Payload: Robotic arms, sensors, cameras, tools, etc.
